For as long as I can remember, I’ve had the idea that someday, somewhere, I’d walk through a gate into a special, secret garden. I’ve come close a few times in real life but have yet to actually see the garden of my dreams. So I set about creating one with Midjourney a few months ago.
Both Midjourney and I continue to learn, plus Midjourney introduced a new version (5.1) a few weeks ago, so I decided to try the secret garden again the other day. I was pleasantly surprised.
Midjourney also recently introduced a new command, /describe, which allows users to upload an image which it then verbally describes in four different ways. The descriptions aren’t always that accurate, but they have helped me understand how to communicate better with Midjourney. I’ve also learned all sorts of new words for my own prompts, such as princesscore, lunarpunk, and nightcore.1
I decided to create a dreamlike tree of life too. Having spent the last two-plus decades in the pursuit of ever clearer photographs of real life,2 it’s super fun to create imaginary worlds.
I think these words come from gaming. I admit I still don’t fully understand them.
I publish a photography substack as well. It’s called Everyday Magic.
