I wondered what Midjourney might offer up for St. Patrick’s Day. In the process of finding out, I ended up with a handful of somewhat Celtic-looking critters.
Like a copper and malachite butterfly and an adorable tabby kitten (however unrealistic).
AI is generally good at making cute critters … as long as you don’t care if they have the correct number or type of paws, claws, talons, or hooves.
I thought a little Día de Muertos imagery might go nicely with the Irish theme as well.1 Note the signature in the lower right corner, made of, as usual, “letters” from no known alphabet.2
Lastly, a Celtic version of — what else? — an owl.
Although I didn’t specify them to Midjourney, the two white flowers are reminiscent of the white flower on the banner the Major Arcana Death card carries in the Smith-Waite Tarot. Which is a fascinating connection for AI to have made (Muerto = Dead), if indeed it made it deliberately. I believe Death’s white flower is a symbol of purity.
I generally get rid of AI’s letter gibberish, but like the way it looks here.
