I wanted to see what AI could do for Valentine’s Day. I started with a fairly traditional idea …
… then created a heart that was quite a bit less traditional — but at least it was red.
Finally, AI and I ended up in full-blown whimsy.
Using Midjourney is essentially a waiting game. I enter my text prompts, then wait to see what it comes up with. Sometimes — probably more often than not — I’m appalled, perplexed, and/or horrified by the results.1 Other times, as I see the result come into view, I feel like a kid, practically jumping up and down with excitement. That’s how I felt about the image above.
May love rise above us all this Valentine’s Day.
Case in point: I asked Midjourney the other day to combine an image of a train with an image of a person. I was imagining someone watching the train go by. Instead, AI coughed up a man standing on the railroad tracks — with a huge headlight in his stomach.
