Midjourney, my AI drug tool of choice, allows its users to combine and recombine images endlessly. I ended up with the image below when I began with a Día de los Muertos watercolor image and added a text prompt of “butterfly, feathers, flowers.” I thought the result, the centered butterfly below, looked more like an owl than a butterfly.
And that’s all it took for me to be off and running with owls. Well, that and the fact that I was apparently unduly influenced by “Superb Owl Sunday” last weekend. I added the word “owl” to the next prompt, left “butterfly” out — and voilà!
Now I can’t stop making owls. I’ve made faux postage stamps with owls, an owl in the moon, and owls in top hats. And those are just the proverbial tip of the iceberg.
Stay tuned for the next installment.
I love your narration on the development of these wonderful images, Lisa!
These owls are fabulous! Love the progression. And the eyes in the middle one are quite compelling.
